Label Mates 3 - Bad Vibrations
It would be foolish to have a label-mates series and exclude our own label. Here at Bad Vibrations we have been putting out records for a few years now, from our live show compilations to full albums by some of our favourite acts.
Volume One of our Live At Bad Vibrations series could be seen as a summary of what we have achieved so far. We have shows from all our favourite venues; The Victoria, The Macbeth, Elektrowerkz, The Lexington and of course our beloved Shacklewell Arms, committed to a beautiful 12” that is available now from our web store. On this compilation you can find some of the best British and overseas acts that have graced our stages in the last few years.
First we have the wonderful Night Beats all the way from Seattle, playing their own brand of garage-psych. Followed by the fuzzed up sounds of Holy Wave, then Burger darlings Cosmonauts. Songs by The Wytches and Fat White Family give proceedings a considerably more local sensibility. Lola Colt, The KVB and Dead Skeletons then close out the compilation.
As well as our live compilation series we have original material in the form of The Asteroid No. 4’s debut album.
The Asteroid No. 4 play beautifully light psych music, their self-titled record has a heavy acoustic guitar presence alongside cutting drums and, of course, reverb-drenched vocals. Tracks like Ropeless Free Climber particularly employ raga-like drones that draw in any listener.
We have chosen The Oscillation to fly the Bad Vibes flag at label-mates. If you can imagine that the Modern Lovers played Can informed psych-rock then you might be knocking on the door of The Oscillation. Definitely worth checking them out at the Shacklewell Arms on the 12th of March where they will be joined by some of our other friends.
