LABEL MATES 3 - FORTUNA POP!

Fortuna POP! are one of the UK’s defining independent labels. Founded in the mid 90s Fortuna POP!, and sister label Slumberland, have been defining the sound of British Indie-pop. With acts ranging from ‘Allo Darlin to Joanna Gruesome they have shown a wide and hugely impressive roster. Fortuna POP! began as a promoter putting shows on at the recently closed Buffalo Bar in Highbury under The Beat Hotel moniker before turning their heads to forming the label we now recognise so well today.

We have selected a few of Fortuna POP!’s finest acts to play for us as part of our upcoming label-mates series. Featuring the seminal Comet Gain who have been part of the British indie pop scene since their formation in the early 90s. Flirting with everything from riot grrl to northern soul, Comet Gain have carved a distinct sound that sits perfectly within the world of Fortuna POP!
Alongside Comet Gain we have Evans The Death who have been grabbing ears ever since the release of their single ‘I’m So Unclean’ a few years ago. Continuing to mix poppy hooks with swirling guitars Evans The Death will release their second album ‘Expect Delays’ on Fortuna POP! in early March. Produced by Rory Atwell, of Warm Brains and Test Icicles the record promises heavier guitars and increased experimentation, we can’t wait.
